<p>&nbsp;미 통계청 발표에 따르면 2023년 한 해 동안 전 세계 인구는 총 7516만2541명 증가했다. 성장률로 치면 0.95%다. 미 통계청은 이에 따라 2024년 1월1일 세계 인구가 80억1987만6189명을 기록할 것이라고 내다봤다.<br />전 세계 인구가 올해 7500만명 증가함에 따라 내년 1월1일에는 80억명을 넘길 것이라는 미국 통계청 조사 결과가 나왔다.<br />미국 인구는 올해 170만명 증가해 새해 첫날 기준으로 3억3580만명을 기록할 것으로 예측됐다. 이는 지난해에 비해 0.53％ 늘어난 것이다.<br />미 통계청은 새해 첫날 하루 동안 지구촌에서 1초마다 4.3명이 태어나고 2명이 사망할 것으로 전망했다.</p>

<p>&nbsp;브루킹스연구소 인구통계학자 윌리엄 프레이는 이 같은 추세가 이어질 경우 2020년대 10년간 미국의 인구 성장률은 4％를 밑돌며 미국 역사에서 인구 성장 속도가 가장 느린 10년으로 기록될 것이라고 전망했다.<br />미 통계청은 2024년 새해 첫날 미국에서 9초마다 한 명이 태어나고 9.5초마다 한 명이 사망하겠지만 이민자 유입이 인구 감소를 막을 것이라고 전망했다.<br />내년 1월1일 입국자 수에서 출국자 수를 뺀 순인구 국제 이동으로 인한 미국 인구 증가는 28.3초마다 1명꼴이 될 것으로 예측됐다.</p>

<p>지금까지 미국에서 인구 성장 속도가 가장 느렸던 시기는 대공황의 한파가 불어닥쳤던 1930년대로, 당시 10년간 인구 성장률은 7.3％였다. 프레이는 &ldquo;팬데믹 시기가 끝나가고 있기 때문에 앞으로 인구 성장률이 소폭 늘어날 수 있으나 7.3％를 넘기기는 어려울 것&rdquo;이라고 말했다.<br />출산&middot;사망&middot;이민자를 모두 고려했을 때 미국 인구는 24.2초마다 한 명씩 늘어날 것이라고 미 통계청은 밝혔다.</p>
