Saab Key Programming

Saab cars made since 1994 have an immobilizer system that is based on codes for keys. In order to add a second key, it requires the purchase of a new transponder as well as special programming. This is usually done by the dealer using a special Tech2 diagnostic tool.

The problem is that it can be extremely expensive. This is why it is important to always have a spare key available.

Transponder key

The transponder can be described as a key that has an electronic chip. This chip sends a signal when the key is put into the ignition. The car then checks to see whether the signal matches with the one on the key. If the signals are the same the car will then unlock itself and start. Jump-starting the battery

A lot of people keep a set of jumper cables in their trunks in case of emergency however, jumping a battery on newer cars might not be the most efficient option. These vehicles are equipped with a number of digital and electronic devices that communicate with one another. A surge in voltage while a battery is hooked up to another can fry these components and leave your vehicle undriveable.

Start the vehicle you are using and let it run for about two minutes before connecting the cables to the one that is disabled. Attach the red clip on the positive terminal of the battery that's good.
